REARVIEW

With Rearview, we wanted to tell a character-driven narrative while experimenting with non-linear
story-telling. Throughout the film, Eli, our lead, serves as both protagonist and antagonist as he blames others to reaffirm his own fatalist conclusions about the world. These developments are intercut with reverse-chronological flashbacks, gradually revealing the events that shape Eli into the person we see at the start of the film. The story explores how people can trap themselves in cycles of blame and denial, reinforcing the very beliefs that leave them stuck in the past.
